Wild Impact South Africa

Wild Impact is an independent, tax-exempt non-profit organization registered in South Africa, and supporting conservation-based community development in over 120 communities across 11 conservation landscapes and seascapes, working hand in hand with local partners to ensure that people and nature thrive side by side. These include the iSimangaliso and Greater Kruger landscapes in South Africa, Sossusvlei landscape in Namibia, Okavango Delta and Chobe landscapes in Botswana, Inhambane seascape in Mozambique, Masai Mara and Laikipia landscapes in Kenya, Jigmi Dorji landscape in Bhutan, Aruncania landscape in Chile and Galapagos seascape in Ecuador.

We believe that true conservation happens when the benefits of protecting nature are shared with the communities who live alongside it. Our work is guided by our “listen, learn and co-create” approach, working in partnership with our community partners, and centres on four key focus areas of conserving ecosystems, building future foundations, supporting tomorrow’s leaders and seeing thriving communities.

Water Security for Education

With increasingly erratic rainfall patterns and rising temperatures the new normal, climate change is a growing reality for the rural communities across Africa that we are working with. Wild Impact are actively pursuing projects that will improve the ability of these communities to respond to the changes that they are being faced with. Interventions like localised small-scale water harvesting hold the key to climate-resilient communities. This mission directly alignes with Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).

The Wild Impact Climate Resilient Communities programme focuses on ensuring reliable water access for our partner communities. This includes repairing or drilling boreholes, establishing freshwater access points, and providing Hippo Water Rollers to facilitate the easy collection, transportation, and storage of clean water.

Your contribution will help towards the following:

  • $180 will enable the purchase of one Hippo Water Roller (a durable water barrel that holds 91 litres of water and can be pushed or pulled for long distances).
  • $250 will enable the purchase of one 5,000 litre Water Tank for a school.
  • $500 will enable the purchase of one 10,000 litre Water Tank for a school.

By addressing water security, the programme not only improves daily living conditions but also supports the success of food gardens, fostering greater resilience in these communities. Our Vision 2030 target is that 100% of our partner communities Early Childhood Development Centres (ECD’s) and schools have comprehensive water storage and are fully water secure.
